Saleema Initiative Communication Campaign

Follow the #BornSaleema #endFGM dialogue on social media, and our respective channels. The AU Saleema Initiative on Eliminating Female Genital Mutilation believes positive, targeted and consistent communication with affected communities on the urgent need to challenge the practice of female genital mutilation is critical. Learning from the examples of different countries, including Egypt, Senegal and Sudan, AUC is continuously urging Member States to accelerate action on numerous areas, such as Strengthening Legislative Frameworks; Dedicating Domestic Financing to support local service delivery, justice, information and education efforts; as well as working with traditional, community and religious leaders to challenge to negative gender and social norms perpetuating this practice.

The Saleema Initiative is also working closely with AU Champion on Eliminating FGM and Saleema Youth Victorious Ambassadors to keep this agenda prominent.
